Hello everyone, I'm Betcy Clarke, i'm 67 years and i've just retired from my job as a librarian. i loved it, i'd worked there for almost 51 years, i started just after i left school. I'm a bookworm so it was great to be suronded by books, old and new, there all fantastic. I've never been much of a writer though; but reading now i love that.
This is the old family house where i used to live in with my mum and dad, sorry its not in colour, but it is almost 54 years old. Now i should have one here of me, my mum and dad all stood in the living room when we first moved in, oh dear i should really get all these photos sorted out - i've got a good 3 or 4 box fulls of them under my bed but i just never get round to sorting them all out into albums. I must make sure i do it sometime.
Anyway sorry back to telling you about me, so this is my curent house, its number 451 Riverview Road, right by the river. When i was younger i had always dreamed i would one day get married, have children and live by the river. Well i got some of my dream, i do live by the river but i never got married or had children, your probably wondering why. Its not because i changed my mind i always wanted children i just never found the right man. I did once try for adoption but it never all worked out, so it just stayed as me.
Well no of course im not always on my own, by best friend Bertha always comes to visit, she may as well live here. Bertha's been my friend for as long as i can remember she was my first friend when i went to school and she pops round all the time for dinner, we have a good chat, watch some TV and read a book or two, what more could you want from a friend.
One of my other favorite things to do now i'm retired is garden, it's just lovely to be out in the fresh air and be able to grow your own produce ,which i can use in the kitchen; and it does help to save a little money. I've always had a small vegetable patch but it began to die so i dug it all up and started again, hopefully ill have a better luck with this one.
I also love painting, I've never really had time to do any before, but now i'm retired i have more time to try my hand at that as well, its wonderful. Ok ill be honest i'm completely rubish at it at the moment but i hope to get better soon, you never know i could be the next Monet or picasso, well i doubt it but i can dream haha.
